Teesside Park kits out local football teams

A new girls’ football team is kicking off its season in style, thanks to a three year kit sponsorship deal with Teesside Shopping Park.

Teesside Park has signed up to back both the new Under 9’s Girls’ team at Skelton United Juniors and the boys under 11’s team.

Teesside Park’s donation of more than £3000 over the next three years will see both teams kitted out in new shirts sporting the Park logo.

Jim Hartnett, Skelton United Juniors chairman, said “It is great for the club to form a long term partnership with Teesside Shopping Park. It will allow us to get on with what we’re good at, training the kids.”

Mike Clarke, Teesside Park manager said:”Skelton United Juniors plays a vital role in our community keeping young people active, fit and happy. Jim and his management team have started this club from nothing and we’re hoping our contribution will enable them to achieve even more.”

Skelton United Juniors was launched in 2008 by local dad of two Jim Hartnett. He felt that local families were traveling away from their community to access junior football. The club started its first season with six teams and it now has eleven with four female teams. Two of the teams have already gone up the league and one of the girls’ teams has won the League Cup.

The new season kicked off for the girls on 8 October away to Redcar Athletic and the boys battling it out with Boro Rangers in the second leg of the League Cup.
